Original World War one Savage Arms Co Lewis gun transit chest.Very rare Savage transit chest for one Lewis gun as supplied to Canadian and British forces in WW I .The chest is stenciled on both ends lot No.112 .303 S.A. Co. The outside lid shows a diamond shaped marking which might be for regimental or battalion identification. A torn paper list dated September 1916 glued inside the lid lists the spare parts and accessories to be supplied by Savage under a British govt contract dated December 1915.
